the Egyptian Goddess inlay is comprised of 100 hand-cut pieces of 18 different types of material, and is set into a triangle table constructed of black walnut.
This inlay was completed as a student project for an "Inlay Techniques" course.
The outer feathers are individual hand-cut pieces of brass, and the inner wings and body are cut from reformed turquoise, malachite and gold-veined lapis. her jewelry and hair are made up of mother of pearl and different kinds of stone. Her skin is chakte-viga wood.
The brass headdress is conceptually a strong component of the image, visually implying her rulership.
This piece was created as a student and exhibited in the end-of-semester Student Exhibition.
It won first place for "Best In Show Category: Craft.”
This piece also won first place for the "People's Choice Award."
